my savage (lrp32s4) is struggling to take off and once it does it's okay and once it hits second it struggles to swap into it and starts bogging down and I'm already running it rich enough so I'm think maybe the gears need to be adjusted? HELP!!!

I fixed the gas tank and Htl is for the most part gone and I shimmed my differentials as soon as I realized the pinion wasn't connecting on pressure

Also wondering if the starting problem is that I'm using 20% nitro in such a strong engine that can easily run 25-30

I know my LRP28S3 didn't like running on 20%. It started fine and ran fine, but ran hot and lacked the power I was used too. I ran out of fuel while out bashing with friends and ran a tank or two of their 20% in my LST at the time. It didn't start any harder or really run much different, just didn't run as strong.

What are your head temps when it's bogging and not shifting? Typically, if you have gears going bad in the trans, they just don't engage at all or lock up. Not really a "sort of works" kind of thing. Unless it's your 2-speed one way bearing slipping. Even then, it won't bog when it shifts, it will high rev because the bearing slips.

What pipe are you running?

I have a LRP30S2 in my savage-x and it's just ridiculous with power even running 18/47 gearing. 1st gear is pointless in it now. Half the time it wheelies when it shifts into 2nd. Glad I got the t-bonez wheelie bar/skid. :)

What fuel is best to run on an LRP 28? Not sure of the spec because its still on its way here.

I really like 25% byrons race gen II fuel. Have been running it for years in all my engines since I got my first LRP28. I got annoyed pretty quick at having to keep two types of fuel around. Prior to that, I ran byrons 20% race gen II. My LHS at the time sold byrons the cheapest and honestly, out of the 5 or 6 brands of fuel I've used over the past 15 years, it burns the cleanest and most consistent.

In the past, I ran traxxas, blue thunder, odonnel, trinity MHP, losi nitrotane and wildcat. All 20% nitro. The best/most consistant running out of those was the Trinity MHP. The best smelling was odonnel's. Smelled like burnt gun powder, but man did it make an oily mess of things and it really ran poor. I have 3/4 gallon of odonnels left that I mixed 50/50 20%/30% because I couldn't get anything else. Tempted to dump it down a hole somewhere. Not sure what I'm going to do with it... doesn't burn well and is overly oily.

The shop I get fuel at now is over an hour away, but they have a wall full of byrons, so I'll buy a few gallons to get me through a season. Not like the old days when I'd burn 6+ gallons in a summer... lucky if I get through 2 or 3 now.
