Hey,

I had a question, if I'd like to change the rear suspension arms of a savage x 4.6 to those of an XL, will they fit? And are the length of the dogbones the same? What are the things I might have to change/add to fit them? What are the pros and cons?

Thank you

I was researching whilst this was already posted. I am trying to extemd the width of my savage and not the length. Apparently its the width that costs in conversion to XL and not the length. Came across a thread and i only need whole 11mm setup. Axels, dog bones and diff. Cups.

I want paddle tyres for my savage and I'm only assuming they are the same size as stock and no bigger? Since my playtime is majorly going to be only desert sand.

Which bearing might that be? Sorry if I ask noob questions but I asked for tips in general for a savage dune bashing and I got no much tips on those. If you could just tell me the things i may have to keep in mind to check regularly, that'd be appreciated.

Also, I'm new to the hobby and have been using this forum extensively to learn about savages.

Thank you

the bearing he is referring to are all the axle bearings and any that are exposed to the elements such as outer bearings that support the diff outdrives etc.....

in fact sand will get into everything so a general teardown and cleaning should be top of your list of things to keep your :eyes: on actually...

as for widening it out using offset wheels is a good idea, you can get offset 17mm hex wheels from RPM and mount some 40 series paddle tires on them easily.....

So if I want to cut costs, you'd suggest I go ahead with the offset of wheels with swrirs 40 paddles instead of axels suspension?

The shall bone at the end of one of my dogbones came off and its simply sitting there on the differential axel. Which made me think I should buy and replace super heavy duty parts as I break things.

Damn are they not expensive lol. What other heavy duty parts did you upgrade?

Expensive? Not imo..... Good quality does cost money but this isn't much more than stock parts iirc...

Upgrades on my Savage are BP diffs, those IRC dogbones, metal spur and vented clutchbell, JVD 4 shoe clutch, FLM extended and center skid plate to keep my brake disc safe.
17mm conversion, 40 series Mashers on axial oversized wheels.

Center diff!!!! So no more 2 speed, ( do have some metal fears to make a new 2speed but had to try that center diff.
Modded LRP. 32 with jp2 pipe.
That's about it.

Whats that part called? Is it a space or something thats attached to the uprights of the savage?

It's a 17mm extender that attaches to the axle

Look this up on ebay:

4 x RC 1/8 Model Car Metal Enhanced Mount 17MM Wheel Hex Drive Adaptor Gray

Sorry for the late reply, I've been very busy. Here's the extender installed in my octane:

Just replace the provided o-ring with zipties to prevent the pins from slipping out.
