Now that my X is up and going been thinking of getting into the electric seen now. Looking at the RTR flux (HPI Savage Flux #104240) My questions are can I put a 3 speed trans in it? I'm not messing around and going for the 6s LiPo's I don't know what is a good battery that don't cost a bunch of cash. After the esc and motor burn out I want to change up to the 8s batteries and stuff. I did some looking around for a 8s esc combo but not sure what I'm looking for since I am coming into this un-knowledgeable. I'm going to guess that I will need a different charger and stuff so should I just upgrade to the 8s stuff now or not? Anything else I should upgrade running wise, I of course am going to do the basic stuff that I have done to my X will follow suit. Thanks in advance guys/gals.

Well most electrics have a single speed trans first thing, because the shift points will be screwy due to voltage changing in the batteries as they discharge..

going 8S in a savage sounds like a bit much to me but I am sure anything is possible with the right electronic speed control and motor used..... Maybe a call to Castle Creations is in order to see what they would recommend, but be ready that stuff is not inexpensive to start with....

as for which charger and batteries to use thats gonna depend on your budget as well, some of them can cost hundreds of $$$$$ so some research will be needed on your part to see what will be best for your needs

I do realize that the8s set up sounds like over kill but I'm a speed junkie you can say. But I'll have to look up that castle place and see what they recommend. As for the battery I've looked at max amp and wow some of them batteries are crazy priced.

6s is more than enough in the Flux. Mine can do a standing backflip without an issue and wheelies on command and is plenty fast enough. One thing to watch out for is that constant high speed runs will likely fry the esc so make sure you get the gearing spot on. I am a die-hard nitro head:ercm: but the Flux is awesome for those days when you just want to go out and have some immediate fun ;)

Thanks for the information, I'lljust run it with some 6s lipos and thwn decide. I'm with you Paul love my nitro but would be nice to just go and run it without having to tune it.

If you have never ran 1/8 brushless then I'll bet you would even be pleased on 4s...Seriously - my Flux weighed in around 15 lb and on a pair of cheap soft pack Turnigy (check hobbyking.com) 5000 mah 30C 2s lipos it would do standing backflips and pull the front wheels easily even at a fast speed.

I had a very good running picco .28 in another Savage and it could almost hang at top speed but the instant torque of the brushless and ease of operation set it apart.

Flux is awesome, especially when my neighbors babies go to bed, I can still be out playing. But my nitros will always come first.

I only run my flux on 4s and it is more than enough power for me. My wheelie bar sees more action than my front tires.

If you are wanting to swap everything out at first just shop around for a roller, Craigslist will be your beat friend for that.

I agree that 4s is plenty of fun and speed. Good 6s lipos are almost overkill if there is such a thing. I'll admit that I just gave my 4s orion equipped flux to my bud who I let drive a few times. Makes me have to build that mamba 6s parts roller I have on the shelf now. But really any guy who would spend his Saturday helping to replace the floor in a boat being eaten by skeeters deserves some flux lovin.

Ok.....I'm a little scared to ask, but what is your definition of "flux lovin"? haha  :hilarious:

Give him a flux to own. You know he will love it.
I guess these meds have clouded my choice of words. They promise I won't need em after surgery this Friday.. fingers crosssd....

I may go with fast lane tvps this time around. The shop is not more than 30 miles away. All the bashers around here use them but I guess I don't bash hard enough cause I've only bent the low CG tvps in years of bashin.
