Savage octane.20 tanks of fuel so far......wont pull revs .wont run for more than a 1/4 tank at a ti

My octane .20 tanks of fuel ,factory settings on carb,wont pull revs or perform...wont run for more than 5 mins @ a time
Any thoughts on the matter......very disappointed in this model

I used Stihl HP ultra full synthetic for a gallon and my engine never broke in. It is a ringed engine and needs to wear in. IMO it stalls when it overheats. It actually loses compression. You can tell when you try to restart it. I switched to Klotz Super Techniplate with 20% castor and it has run better and the stalling went away. I am most of the way through the 3rd gallon now. It doesnt run great but it runs and shifts occasionally.

sorry is that .20 or just short of 1/4 tank or as i suspect 20 tanks???
if it is 20 tanks then I would think a bit of tuning slightly to the needles may help, just a word of caution make very small adjustments because the needle threads are coarse and over adjusting is common from what I have read.......

You could P/M @Mark Walters I believe he has had good luck with his Octane....

Its had 20 tanks through her ...all @ only a 1/4 tank at a time ....wont perform or run past 5 mins (1/4 Tank) then i have to wait half hour before it will start again !!!

Yes it was NEW out of the box.I have made the shifts a bit earlier in the gear box , that has now allowed me to get maybe 6 mins run time

How does the spark plug Look? Also check the spark. See if it has a bright spark or if it is a dim spark. If it is a dim spark try a different battery or a new spark plug. Let me know if that helps. Don't do anything to the shifting to you get it to run through a whole tank of gas.

Two new plugs , fully charged batteries.....i made shifts earlier because it would just revout in firs and shut down in less than 5 mins ....now at least it shifts to 3 rd and i get 6 odd mins out of it.....no its not leaning out its spot on.....its as if it has a bilt in overheat sensor or something ????

Okay there is a magnet that attaches to the bottom of the motor and runs off to the silver CDI box make sure that is clean and a properly adjusted it should run longer than 6 minutes what mah battery are you using Tri running 1600 mah battery let me know if that works

That mag pick up is NEW ...as the first failed within 10 mins......Batteries are original out of box !

Ok are you using the same type of plug and make sure you are using 25 to 1 gas mixture and a good type of gas.

Okay I'm thinking that the CDI is getting hot that's why it only runs when it cools off try taking it out of the battery box and move it and see what that does

Yep that has been my thought pattern also.It been nothing but trouble this thing , they should never have been allowed on the market until they were sorted.

Just tried it with CD unit outside the battery box ...best it has ever gone ,longest its ever gone ....still only half tank however !!!

Ok we are on the right track. Let me look at mine and check something out. I'm starting to have the same problem. I am leaning towards the card Mt need to be cleaned. I'll let you know in a couple of days
