So, what's the concensus on the cvd's? Are they easy to break? Rebuildable? Worth buying all 6? still recommended to get the HD cups all the way around? Could you retro fit the wheely king rear diff & cvd axles? Or just the ends? Anyone using parts from different vehicles? As you can tell, I'm on the fence

I have one set of CVDs replacing the front axles and dogbones. They seem to be plenty tough, or at least tough enough to keep from breaking like the stock dogbones did.

I'm not sure the center CVDs would be worth it, but going to HD drive cups and gear shafts for the center driveline definitely is. The torque from this little truck chewed right through all 4 of mine, but the HDs seem to be holding up much better.

Right on. Yea, I figured the HD cups would work in the center and out of the diffs. I broke down and ordered all the cups, of course they're all on backorder. I've never had any issues with the dogbones breaking but I've gone through some cups (with the quickness) my main reason for cvd's would be so the front ones can't pop out. I feel like I have over $1000 into this truck, like I can't stop until every part is upgraded. Anyone make a thread for set up on these trucks? For some reason I've had a hell of a time getting it to go straight at top speed. I have aluminum uppers, hubs, camber, trx turnbuckles. Bearings on the way. Amongst everything thing else.

I have the CVDs all around and the HD ball cups for the diff input and the transmission output cups. The truck feels nearly indestructible, though I keep eating slipper clutches.

Hmm, slipper clutches? I've seen a few online stores show that the ceramic slipper for the full size truck is compatible. I've been trying to confirm but haven't been able to. Everyone I have e mailed doesn't know. Maybe you can find out. I wonder why though?

I don't really see how it can be. The 1/8 scale savage slipper is easily twice the size.

I can't remember which model it says, maybe ss or 25. I am doubtful as well. Like I said it says on quite a few of the Internet stores that they're compatible. It's got me thinking though. May be worth looking into, even if you could retro fit one

I don't believe you can... The slipper pad for the XS can fit through the hole in the middle of the full size one. I believe one site made the mistake, and then a bunch of others took their word for it.

Anyone know where I can get front axels (dogbones) or cvds? I can't find them in stock anywhere..

I'm almost positive there's a few on ebay. You can go w hpi, e racing, or hot racing. Although I've heard the hr ones have had issues. Hpicelery can show a picture of the shrink wrap cvd's?

What is the best brand of vcd to get? Hpi or eracing or integy?
I have the HPI ones and see no reason to switch. Really you would probably be fine if you get whatever is available since XS parts are kinda hard to get right now.

I know... right? Parts are scarce right now. Hope it doesn't stay this way.

This could still be a lag from the recent purchase of HPI. Parts were hard to come by around and after the acquisition. I wouldn't worry too much, there are new XS trucks scheduled to come out soon. They won't stop supplying parts for them. ;)

I must say, I'm getting pretty f'n pissed off that I can't get any parts! I need my hd diff cups & hd gear cups! I'm tired of my truck being in pieces. Thought about getting a Rustler to "play" with while the mini money pit is on hold.

If waiting is that bad, just buy the stock parts as a stop gap. I've seen them in stock.

And then.....don't beat the crap out of it while you drive it until the better stuff comes in stock. :D

I was really just exaggerating, I have stock parts. "Take it easy" = no fun! I don't own a 2s battery, no such thing as "take it easy" :dead:

You can use a blow torch and harden the oem cups yourself

Fire up the torch and get the cups scorching red hot then cool in water do it 2 times, found it to prolong there life

@ Ozzybasher- That is a phenomenal idea! I went with the Integy cvd's, they looked to be the best quality visually, more good reviews than bad. I'll update on the "performance"
