hi guys

After completing my SS build I was getting hassle from some of my shocks.IMG_0009.JPG hpi-1-8-savage-x-ss-4-6-front-or-rear-shock-kit-1_large.jpeg maxresdefault.jpg

red/ orange rubber seals......... the ones that go on the top of the shock caps.

Could never seem to seat them tight. A few times I would blow the tops off and lose all the oil from the shock. When u do manage to get them tight, I always pinch an edge allowing oil to leak or after a day of bashing shock caps fly off.

Soooooooo solution I have

Plumbers tape ........

Take off the rubber seals, and strap the plumbers tape around the threads.

Tighten up the shock caps.

I have been running mine like this for the past few months not once has a cap come off or loose.

Maybe this can help others.

Thats a good temporary fix, I would say upgrade your shocks to the big bores, they give a better ride and actually hold more oil....

I'm with ya jam....

Just waiting till I bend or break them.

As you say temporary fix. Upgrade as I break things. :)

Going to an aluminum body would likely help too.

I've been running the stockers for years and never had any real issues with any of them.

I thought of the big bores but for the cost to me its not worth it. I'm still using the stock springs as well, have it set kinda soft to not wheely do much and lands perfect. Been thinking of a stiffer spring rate but not sure what one I want.

Plastic big bores on my x and flux. I can't remember the springs I used on my old 8 shock setup but they weren't stock.

Huh that's weird I just built an SS kit and mine doesn't come with any o rings that go there on the outside? Looks like the red o rings that go up and sit on the inside of the shock cap though.
