Ok I bought an xl uses and I can't get it tuned to save my life ....it screams I'm first gear but won't go into second or 3rd

I just thought of this but when I lean the hsn it screams if I richen it...it will go into second but it will be boggy

Well you did say it is used so there is no telling where the shift points and fuel needles may be, I would say to start at factory settings and go slowly from there so bring it into a better tune, then after you have that make sure to check the shift points for the transmission and start that process, it will not shift properly until it is mostly tuned for this reason I say go with tuning the engine first.....

Well here's the thing if been researching running this thing for a couple days. And every site says make the mid needle and low speed to flush and start with the high speed. But it runs like garbage no matter what I do with it. Can u by chance tell me how many turns out you would recommend on each

Well the mid should be mostly left alone, it affects the low speed setting a bit and if you turn that and adjust it the wrong way you can damage the carburetor, but set it like the manual I linked says and then start it up and only touch the hi speed needle to set the tune there, then after it is running reliably you would be setting idle and the low end and then finally setup the shift points....
Maybe post a video of how it is running may help to further diagnose and help you get it right....

Ok so I got it running decent and I went to take off, the motor revved up and it started to move then tons of smoke and it would go anywhere so I shut it right off. Do you think that would be bad clutch?

Ok I have another problem lol imagine that. But I have 2 savage xl's the high speed needle on both trucks is about 2 turns out and here is where it gets difficult truck 1 has the low speed needle about 2 turns lean from flush and runs ok. Truck 2's low speed needle is half turn lean from flush and it runs awesome it does wheelies it it sounds good through all 3 gears but it fouls out glow plugs bc when it idles for more then 5 seconds it dumps a lot of fuel into the cylinder. Now I did the fuel line pinch and truck 1 dies in 3 seconds....truck 2 dies in 10 seconds but it runs fantastic...does this even make sense to anyone??? How can I get truck 2 to stop dumping fuel in the cylinder? if anyone could help me out here i would really appreciate it.

Mine does this when my servo is off and my carb pops way open... I'd check your idle and trim settings , make sure batteries are fully charged , something is sucking all the gas in their.

make sure your carb is barley open before you try to start. You can hear it too very well if it's rich or lean.

I checked the idle and trim it's all fine the truck idles great for like 5 seconds then it just dies and kills my glow plug

When it starts leave the Glow wand in it and with a glove on wrap ur hand around the glowwand and your engine to keep the heat in. If it stalls with Glowwand in it and won't start I'd lean it out more .

I'm no expert but I try to pass it on :)
