Nice looking frame rcnut! Will be a nice sport flyer or small video rig.
You putting the naze or kk2 in there?

I've almost completed 2 RCExplorer tricopters. One is for a buddy and the other my number 4 tricopter. I have a 450 size quad....but most are always scratchbuilt. It's so much cheaper for me leaving funds for the electronics!

Revert with your set up please!!

When the multirotor bug hit me some time back...I did build a quad out of basswood and ply running an old kk+ FC. Worked well and learned alot.
I ended up with a tri as I wanted to be different?..LOL! Besides I like the looks of it and it flies more like a plane then a pivotal quad on turns. So turns are banks and dips compared to a pivot rotation on a quad which makes getting into turns seem easier.
It's not difficult to fly and if anything, personally I find that a tri is harder to set up as you have a mechanical system involved. Also not all boards support a Tri config.
However setting up isn't difficult and pretty easy with a KK2. Obviously less thrust to a similar sized quad with the lack of another motor, but the being able to fold down for transport is a winner especially if your into video and just casual flying around. You can go big and fold up slim.
Gonna swap out the KK2 on it soon and crack my brain with an APM2.5 which I have laying around. It's back to school now! Will update !

Will update rcnut! So far it flew well on the Kk2 for starters. Now getting my head around the APM2.5 and it's calibration detail. So far, it's easy once you start to fool with it in Mission Planner. That and reading, reading, searching, searching, trying and trying. Finally got my compass to work properly so now testing the GPS fix. Then it's trials again.

Pics coming soon. Decided to improve the tricopter frame so built another but neater. Awaiting new ESC's and a servo to complete. Then transfer the FC over.
Incidentally, I'm using the HK Pilot Mega 2.7 with UBLOX 7M GPS/Compass from HbbyKing....and so far it's working pretty damn good! Once I transfer them to the new frame, I need to do the infamous APM Dance aka: Autotune.
Updates soon....cheers
