Broken Starter Shaft

I got myself a new Savage XL and managed to break the ball head of the rotostart starter shaft, the one that goes into the engine side. I tried to get a replacement but it seems to be out of stock at all the major online sellers. Question is can I use any other from a different manufacturer...
