I run a 2700 mah li ion with an ultimate bec so plenty of power. As said above this is the MOST important ingredient in a good steering truck.

Try replacing the bushings in the belcranks with bearings. I run a 300 oz servo. All stock otherwise. Mine turns great.

    Little to no braking power

We need more info. What brake setup does it have? Steel disc? Pink composite discs? Are you running the stock throttle setup? Pics will usually help. Check simple things first. Battery charged fully. Screws on servo tight. Set screw on brake arm tight. Screws holding brake discs to trans tight.

Yeah that ball end aint big enough to take the load and thus becomes a wear part. Just go back to the stock type arms. They make adjustable ones. I have a set on my x.

    Dwindling Engine Choices

Ive owned many rc engines over the last 30 yrs and have never needed parts support for anything other than crash damage. If you treat the engine rite and it was made rite, it should last a very very long time. Back off on the setting a bit and let the engine live. Unless your racing then hells...

Mid tank mod on the cheap/The return of Nut!

Why not drill oit the ovaled out holes and sleeve them back down to the needed size with a brass sleeve? Or drill them out and use good quality us made larger bolts so they stop breaking? Try Mcmaster carr or grainger or Takoma screw for hardware. You buy a box of 100 and have a 10 year suppy.
