Thought it would be fun to compile a giant list of what makes an RC addict. What I want to do is have you guys come up with humorous things that you believe make an RC addict. After a couple months I will take all the comments and put them into a list and post a master list. I don't really have a set number to stop at. If the thread gets some good attention maybe it could be stickied.

One comment per post and can't post back to back. You have to wait until another member posts. Kinda like the 5k Google images thread. Lets see how many ridiculous behaviors we can come up with.

When you spend several times over on mods what you originally paid for the RC.........and keep modding.

I used to have a saying in my signature, it went something like "I could have bought several more new savages for what I put into just this one".

When you head out to the bash site and have to take the spare tire out of your trunk to fit all you RC trucks/cars and supplies. Additionally, it takes you an hour or more just to get ready because you are charging batteries, packing your lunch, and loading the car.

When you have a truck shipped to the house and make a request for it to arrive while the wife is at work.

when you have over 40 RC trucks cars and vehicles of all kinds and you make a special place in the cave for all of them to have places to sit so they can be admired when you are not running them :)

When you gladly make the 50 mile roundtrip to the LHS to spend a couple hundred bucks but gripe when the wife wants you make a 2 mile roundtrip to the grocery store to spend $3 on a gallon of milk...or if you are requested to alter your route to the LHS to get said milk.

When you are distracted while driving imagining if the spot you just passed would be a cool place to bash and hit a deer causing damage equal to the amount of money you have invested in RC in the last 6 months.

Spending time on the forum when at work......alot.

Well not technically because I didn't post an anecdote. I forgive myself if you do. ;)

When you ask the boss for an extra 15 minutes of lunch break so you can spend the whole hour bashing and have time to do after-run care.

When you bash or crawl at work, on the clock, in between customers(which are few and far between lately), and instead of telling you to do that on your own time your boss is standing next to you asking a million questions about it.
My boss watched me crawl my SCX-10 yesterday for almost a half hour, while there weren't any customers.
Gotta get more nitro so I can bash the Savage at work too!

when the wife says in an offhand way that you love them little trucks more than her.... :lmao: mine says it all the time

My wife calls them my little hobby cars. lol

When you creatively interject the topic of RC into every conversation you have with everyone you talk to whether you know them or not.

Normal.

When your RC vehicles are better maintained than your 1:1 vehicles.

When you stop at the LHS on the way home from work not really needing anything but walk out with enough stuff to fill up your rewards card and get a $5 coupon off your next $25 purchase.

you know its gone to far when you start looking at the kids toys and think how could i mod that

Ok this literally just happened to me 1/2 an hour ago. I was walking up the back sidewalk of my house from the garage to the house after putting my toys away and I heard the unmistakable sound of a nitro vehicle. Stopped dead in my tracks to get an orientation of the sound. I had no choice, my body involuntarily went to find the source of the noise.

So..when you hear an RC nearby and proceed to find where it's coming from so you can see if their toys are better than your toys only discover it was the neighbor 4 houses away. The same neighbor you have lived by for 14 years and have barely made the effort to wave at has suddenly become your best friend and you now have a play date down at the baseball diamond to race.

When you check the forums every 2mins on a smartphone even when your on the toilet in the shower having a bath ;););) (Not that I have ever done that )

When you are standing outside with your prized truck trying to tune and the neighbor wanders over to see what you are doing. The next thing you know all your trucks are lined up in the driveway like a little car show and you are giving the looky lou a guided tour of each one.

That's gold.
When you spend 90 percent of your free time on rc fourms, cleaning rc's, on ebay looking at rc's and thinking do I have a spare of that if I brake it.

100% on that one
You know you are an addict when the wife asks what you are looking at as you look on ebay for stuff "you may need" and you close the laptop and say nothing baby love you.

The real reason I started this thread; I am just shy of completing my Masters degree in IT Systems Management Networking Specialist. One of my classes I am in now is a psychology class. One of my assignments is to analyze a behavior and decipher if it is the result of an addiction and discuss the impacts good and bad. You guys have been a huge help. That said, let's keep this thread rolling. Some of the responses are so funny and I think y`all are enjoying it.

At this point I think is a fair statement to say that the RC hobby is an addiction. It seems to follow all the tell-tale indications that suggest addiction at least. While most addictions have some sort of negative impact either on one's finances, body, mind, and personality; RC addiction really has no long term negative effects; Myself being in the hobby for 14 years have yet to experience any severe negative impacts on said variables. What classifies this as addictive behavior is we hide it, spend a lot of money, spend a lot of time, and allow the very act of RC to dictate our daily routine

My entry for today: When your LHS receives their order from the distributor and most of it is items you had them order for you.

When you wonder if your parents knew something about you before you were born.
It can't just be a coincidence that I'm an R/C addict and my initials are RC, can it?;)

When you wife is having a garage sale that turns into an RC show and tell! (even had one guy go home and get his 5T
Forum rule violation. No back to back posting. You shall be flogged it a length of nitro fuel line.:pompus:

When your RC bookmarks in your web browser out number every other topic combined 10 times over. Furthermore, you have set one of them as your home page. You are welcome HPISF.

When you ar training your 3 year to paint trucks when your'e supposed to be working.IMAG2752.jpgIMAG2752.jpg
