OK so here goes folks, I got a savage in pieces from 300M yesterday and it looks to be assembled from a couple trucks, not a bad thing as it looks to have good stuff and is ready for modding with what I wanna use,I will start with what I got in the box and go from there, I doubt the axial .32 will make it into this particular truck but I am thinking about using the f 4.6 engine in this one, prolly buy it new..... so on to a few pix of what I have and as I go along cleaning I will keep this updated with fresh pix....

Not to knock your mod choices, but why buy a new F4.6? If you are going to spend money on a new mill, buy a good one. LRP is screaming your name Jam. :)

ya thats always an option also, when is time I will look at options concerning the engine lol, but the F4.6 is also a great engine and relatively cheap on e bay too lol

Get the ofna 28 force. Even cheaper than the f4.6 and its the same engine. That engine is awesome, talk about easy to tune
Does the truck have bp diffs?

Well I have been gathering parts and doin some cleaning on what I have... the bulks are all clean and ready to go back together, I got a pair of HPI savage alloy diff cups and put my parts in them, they come with all the proper shims and all so i just cleaned , inspected and installed the new cup with my existing parts.....diffs went together nicely and I am gettin closer to maybe puttin things into a roller of sorts.....

Nice clean pipe. this thing was all covered in residue...

So as ya see is coming along. slowly but surely it will become a running bash rig.......

Well my son was over today and while here he put together the roller chassis. TVP's all on and all, waiting on a transmission, which is coming soon...... next is install servos and get the :nitromill: mounted, but that will wait till I get the tranny in it.....all in all a real easy to build rig. took about an hour to get this much done.....

Well I just got the Tranny yesterday and it is missin the brake cam and link bar, and the seller said was there but oh well, so I have to get that , but the tranny appears good metal gearz inside but was dry as a bone so I greased the gears and put the top back on......
Couple pix I took of what it is......

so there it is , will be gettin linkage stuff in a week or so, man I hate waiting, but shouldn't be long now till is done.......

ok got the spur on and all, new slipper pad glued to the gear this time instead of the hub lol now for the linkages to arrive and i can get this thing together more.......

Well I got the linkages I needed and the brake cam and piston so I put the brakes on the tranny and installed it along with the nitromill into the TVP's, it is really taking shape now.... about all that's left is installing the radio box and setting up the system to operate.....

soon prolly after Christmas i will be putting the rest together and getting some vid of it running, thanks for following along with my basket case savage build up.......

Looking good jam . I have just one suggestion tho . That little brass spacer on the end of the crankshaft will become a clutch nightmare. They wearout quickly and they don't wear evenly . Basically it becomes a counter weight and eats the bearings in the clutch bear and fr9nt of the motor. A small piece of fuel tubing in there works much bettter and lasts the life of the motor.

Thanks for that lil tip Mickey I will change that out right away.... meanwhile I setup the radio system and got the throttle and brake linkage setup and working... I am usin my FlySky GT3B radio which I have an extra receiver for and it is now #2 on the list of 10 I can save to it...... seems to be working great so far so we will see this weekend when we take it to the water park bash area......

Ok well today we took the Savage out for its first run at the water park bash place.... didnt even tune it much a lil on the hi speed , but it fired rite up and ran good.... even destroyed a walmart truck in the process, poor lil truck didnt stand a chance in hell of survival.... all in all I am happy with this rig.... more to come so keep watchin......

Got a couple new parts for my Savage X and installed them today. first is an RPM center skid plate and second is a throttle brake bellcrank assembly in alloy, I have already broken one ear off the bellcrank so I saw this on e bay and just had to get it, easy install on both parts and will be nice having the protection of the skid and alloy bellcrank set......

Bellcrank assembly

Center skidplate

Nice, I like it. I recently busted my throttle bell crank and thought about getting the metal one. LHS only had the plastic one in stock though.

Dang, Jam finally got a savage!

looks great, how do you like it? is it getting along with all of the other cattle in your stable?

Ya I am liking it very much, as far as getting along , yes it has a nice place right next to my other nitro trucks and it gets along just fine :)

just a few pix of my XTM MMT and the Savage together, one can see how much bigger and wider the MMT is over the Savage.... course the MMT is a flat plate chassis vs the Savage TVP setup.... both have a .32 engine in them and run almost the same speed wise, just some of the jumps seem to be taken easier by the MMT than the Savage, and it does handle really bumpy conditions alot better than the Savage does....

All in all I am satisfied with the Savage, time will tell if it is as tough as the Big Bad MMT is tho, I have had the MMT about 3 years and the only time it has ever let me down was due to a brain fart by the operator hitting a light pole :crying-large::lmao:

Well I was drooling over these shocks on E Bay, so I ordered them for my Christmas Present to myself... They are 14mm inside and take all the stock big bore parts inside them, I know I know Integy stuff sucks to some people , but I happen to really like the way they are built and machined Gunmetal Grey bodies look to be hard anodized, the red parts really set them apart from the others I have seen and they have 3 sets of springs to adjust rate and rebound and after being able to inspect them and mess with them a bit I am STOKED to get them built and installed so I can see how they work,
I think I am gonna use 40 wt oil in the fronts and 50 wt in the rear ones and see how that works to start with...

Here are a few pics of what comes in each set of 2 shocks...

Got the shafts and assorted pieces in my cart and will order them on the first of the month.....

Got the rest of my pieces from A Main today, Built the front shocks and rear shocks, used associated Green Slime on the "o" rings and 40 wt oil in front and 50 wt in rear, I used the 1.4 tapered hole pistons up front and black springs and the 1.6 taper pistons in the back with Red springs, I will mount these on my savage probably tomorrow....

Shocks look great Jam! Have you had a chance to install them and try them out yet?

Probably install them tomorrow while the kids are at school....if I try to do that while Samuel is home he takes my tools and plays with them :D

Good looking shocks. Interested to see how they do.

Love those shocks Jam! If they work out well I may just grab some and upgrade my 4.6!
Lovely truck you have there Jam!! Such a nice Spur...haha!
Incidently....I'll be picking up a used Savage Flux HP tomoro!! Will be doing my usual strip down and clean.! will update

Well after a few lazy days I decided to mount those shocks on the Savage, I must say the suspension feels much smoother working it by hand, be interested to see how they work on our rough old bash field.....

Couple pix of them mounted up. they sure look purty I must say that much.....

while I had it down on the bench I decided to mount up the mulchers on the RPM wheels I picked recently.....

Damn! Them shocks look good on the savage! Start bashing....so I can decide to buy or not...lol!
Great job overall Jam! wonderful journal on your Savage!
