Home made header? Anyone done this?

So, I'm loving my newly acquired Savage 25 w/Dynamite Mach 28, but the exhaust dumping behind the front tire is really bothering me.
As you all know it's messy...
And it covers a larger amount of the rig than one would imagine....

I was thinking that it would be nice to put the pipe behind the rear bulkhead(diff housing), between the bulkhead and the rear bumper, to keep the exhaust in the way back where(I think) it should have been in the first place.

I'd like to route the exhaust either around the RR shocks and back, or straight through the bulkhead itself and turn down to meet the pipe.
In either case, it would be with the minimum of bends and least restriction in mind.

My series of questions are:
Has anyone made their own header?
I was wondering what the exhaust temps are at the exhaust port?
If they can use aluminum for headers would I have a melting problem if I used coiled copper pipe with plumber's solder(fairly high temp) to make a header?
Would copper or the plumber's solder have a reaction with the methanol, like they do with the coil of a glow plug?
I'm guessing I'd have somewhere near 5" to 6" of pipe at the most, would this create too much back pressure?
Or would changing the overall length of the exhaust effect the pipe's tune?

Thanks in advance!!!

I hear you, it does seem silly to dump the exhaust in front of the back tire. I would like to see what you make. Maybe you can fashion the pipe similar to a revo setup. Start off with a 90 with ears to hold the spring going around the engine. Good luck, you probably will hear a lot of theories and heat calculations but the only way to know is to try.

The length of the header will affect the tune so good luck. Post some pics when your done.

Rear exhaust is out there. Example below:

But I want to make one very important point before you spend money on one of those, you will destroy it the first time you land on the rear of the truck. The exhaust is ran where it is because it is then mostly protected by the TVPs and A-arms/ wheels.

I had thought of that also, like some rubber hose or something.
Just makes me think "too much back pressure"....
But I could be wrong, since I have no real clue as to how the whole system is balanced.;)

X - I did see that rear exhaust about 3 minutes before you posted that pic & link.
That pipe looks AWESOME and it's supposed to sound every bit as good as it looks!!!
But yes, it does appear to be very vulnerable stuck right down there by the bumper...
It wouldn't last 5 minutes with me at the wheel.;)

What I'd like 2 know is how is the logics rear exhaust performance wise I had thought about I but didn't want 2 spend $60 and b worse than my stock pipe that exhaust was designed for traxxas I believe

Hey this is what I did . Works great . Used an air filter elbow and some zip ties . Had to bend up a custom pipe hanger but it worked great and even gave a deeper tone .No performances losses . Or gains . Didn't even need to tune for it .

But that is not a header. that is an exhaust extension and by the look of it is dumping oil on your rear suspension...

True . I got a little off topic . Was just going for a way to keep it off the front . But I've since removed as it was spitting on my wheelie bar .

My XTM MMT has a transverse header arrangement and has an extension tube that routes the exhaust out thru the rear shock tower, more than once I have had the tube fall off and puke oil all over my rear end , makes a helluva mess and is very fun to clean up :D
