Well I have finally gathered about 90% of my parts for my project. I decided to build another Savage (from scratch this time instead of buying a roller), I decided to build a Savage X 4.6, I already have a Savage 25, a SS and a XL. I had a brand new Losi 454 and a new LRP 32 lying around collecting dust, decided to go with the LRP 32 on this one, I have a Losi 454 in my SS and the 25 has a LRP 28 and wanted something different for this truck. I am going to start putting it together tonight. I still need to order a body, I ordered the pipe from Extreme RC Mods today. Will get some pictures posted up to show my progress.

Here is what I have so far.

I am still waiting on a few parts to get here so I can complete it. I have a 3 speed trans with a reverse module from a XL 5.9 that should be here today. My big bore shocks, fuel tank and exhaust should be here by Thurs, I still havnt ordered a body either, and I am still waiting to hear from Robin on the ERCM exhaust. I went ahead and bought a exhaust for a XL 5.9 till I can get the other. I know could have bought a X 4.6 way cheaper and sold the 4.6 and put my LRP 32 and had pretty much the same truck, but where would the fun in that be??

:woot: Just checked my emails, Robin gave me the info I needed so now I can get the pipe paid for and get it on the way. Payment sent!!

This is going to be a monster with an LRP .32 and an ERCM pipe. Can't wait to see it completed!

Got a little more done to it last night after work. I still need the grab bar, fuel and air filter, spur gear and slipper clutch assembly, brake assembly, new tires (I put a set on that I had lying around just for looks), my body, and my ERMC pipe (also put on a pipe that I ordered before I got a hold of Robin, its a pipe for a XL 5.9, will probably use this pipe on my Savage 25 with the Losi 454, it has the HPI ribbed pipe and I don't like it). It is getting close, just got to wait for the rest of my parts to arrive.

I got my rear bumper mount and the body yesterday, I really like this body. Got it together and decided to take the tires off of my Losi LST and see how they looked on here because I havnt decided on what tires I want yet. I decided these look pretty good on this truck, might have to order another set for it. I guess I am about to head to Spokane, a 180 mile trip one way, to go to a hobby shop and see if I cant get the right brake discs so I can at least start breaking this in tomorrow. That is the only part I don't like about living in this part of Idaho, there are no good hobby shops for almost 200 miles, that is why I have to order everything and sometimes end up with the wrong parts. I would like to get the motor broke in before my pipe arrives.
Here is how it is looking now.

Looking good!!
I guess I don't feel so bad, since the drive to my LHS is only 45 miles one way.
But since I drive a lifted Grand Cherokee with 32s, it costs me more to get there and back than I spend on a gallon of 20% nitro....

:p

That lid is beautiful, Chrome. Is that your shelf lid or you run it?

This one will probably be my shelf lid. For now anyway, I just can see tearing this one up.

I was looking at it and my XL 5.9 last night when I decided to order a set of 5.9 axles for it, they are wider axles, like extended axles from the factory. I figured that it would improve the looks as well as the handleing if I set the tires out a bit, like they did on the XL 5.9.

Right now these wide tires set pretty close to the body.

I keep coming back to look at the paint job on this. What is the red you used? Kinda wish I had that color red a little bit ago when I did the lid for my Savage SS The Assassin. That red would have been perfect for a hearse with the metal flake and black I did on it. Might just go pick up another hearse and do it again and paint it with the same red you used for a shelf body and bash with the original one I did.

EDIT....and what tires are those? I dig em

Thanks guys. I don't know what color red this is but I really like it, I am thinking after closely looking at it that it is probably candy red with a gold backing, but I am not positive, I bought this body from someone else. I gave up on my painting ability. LOL. I can get a hold of the person I bought it from and find out for sure what it is. It is kinda like the candy red on my Traxxas Revo but it has a different tone to it, that is why I think he used a gold backing instead of the silver that I used.

Those tires are the stock tires and wheels off of my Losi LST, I ordered a new set for this truck yesterday so I could put my LST back together. They are made by Losi and called Claw MT.

Now that you mention it I can indeed see the gold under tone. Thanks for the link to the tires. Bookmarked and plan on order them when I wear down the Trenchers.

Ya that is a candy red color on the shell backed with gold or silver it really pops.... the person who painted it prolly used spaztics or pactra paint on it.... Looks really good all done up.......

Just an FYI for those not in the know. Pactra paint division went belly up and was picked up by Duratrax and is being sold under the Duratrax name also. Kind of a bonus the cans are bigger 4.5oz and they don't spit like pactra rattle cans did.

I haven't used a spray can for over 25 years to paint a body.... not sure what ya mean about the old paints spitting I never had that problem before, I use the small 2/3 oz bottles of paint for my airbrush, bonus is all my airbrush lids fit the small jars so I keep them for mixing colors and such...... way I understand spray paint in cans is for taggers and stuff....

By old paints I am just referring to pactra as a whole since they are no longer making paint. Of all the RC paint rattle cans, pactra was notorious for spitting from the nozzle. I still use rattle cans to do my paint jobs but tend to use Tamiya and now Duratrax paint. I haven't graduated to air brush yet.

Sorry OP, didn't mean to high jack your thread...as you were.

I have painted a couple of candy bodies, some turned out ok, my Losi LST turned out really nice but it was just a single color, I don't have the patience to do all the masking like that had to be done on this truck. I have had pretty good luck with the Spatz Stik rattle cans, but I still need to buy a airbrush and try that. I bought this body because of the price, I paid about $100, to me that was a good deal for this body. I could not have bought a body, the paint and by the time I put into tryng to paint it my self, I would have had more than $100 invested in a body that wouldn't have came out as nice.

My axles, fuel filter, reverse servo, and my Wheelie bar will be here today. Only parts I am still waiting on is my new tires and rims, should be here tomorrow, and my pipe, Robin said it was on the way. New pictures coming soon.

Its now pretty much done other than my pipe that I am waiting on. Last night I installed my reverse servo, fuel & air filter, wheelie bar, and the XL axels. Those wider axels from the XL 5.9 really made a difference, the truck now sits the way it is supposed to. Tomorrow I will start the break in process.

Now if my new tires and pipe would hurry up and get here, I would be really happy. I got to get these tires back on my Losi.

Chrome. How are your needle settings out of the box on that LRP32. On mine the LSN was way to lean.

I havnt checked them but I will, I have heard of quite a few people that have bought LRP motors that the carb settings were way off.

Bet ya can't wait for your pipe and the truck looks great, are you going to use the 5.9 header with the pipe or the 4.6 header I use the 4.6 one. I'd like to know your thoughts on it if you use the 5.9

Thanks, I have both, think I will use the 5.9 but will probably try both and see which one works best with this motor. Its driving me crazy to look at it and not run it!! Robin told me my pipe was on the way, don't know how long it takes but if it isn't here by tomorrow, I am going to start breaking in the motor with this 5.9 pipe.
