I bought my Savage HP Flux a week ago. When I bought it, I bought 2-80$ batteries. They were partly charged and I drained them.

2 days later, I took my machine (this isn't a toy, I don't care what anyone says) to show off to my gf. I trashed it back and forth violently and my transmission smoked and the traction stopped.

I took the entire thing apart. Turns out my "slipper clutch pad" became so hot, it caked into a grey clay. With a tool, I removed the clay and replaced it with the factory part. I also "lucas oiled" the entire transmission thinking it was over heating.

Turns out the nut that covers the little spring on the front gear had to be tightened. Without the slip, it was metal on metal and that is what cause it to overheat. I touched it and I burnt my finger.

Long store short, the transmission is make to be run without oil When you buy one, make sure that nut is tight.

I just trashed it back and forth on a huge pave less area and it ran perfectly. This thing is demon possessed.

Its a machine, yes, but its a machine made for recreation/enjoyment, so technically, it is also a toy.
You could classify it as a "mechanical toy that is potentially dangerous if used improperly"

You can't use "potentially dangerous" to classify a toy vs machine. You can leave a soccer ball on the stairs and it becomes a hazard, does that make it a machine? Work with me. I had this thing doing donuts and it was buried under a cloud of dust, and you couldn't ever see the damn thing. Motorist were slowing down wondering what is going on. If you've used one, you will know what I mean.

Besides, kids can't afford 800$ toys (before batteries and chargers). And even if their parents buy it for them, they won't be able to maintain it. So how about a happy medium? It's a "man's toy"

Welcome. Per the argument, for you it is obviously a toy. While the savage is definitely something to have fun with and very capable, the stock form is far from able to take all the outright abuse you seem to want to give it. But you'll learn that as you spend lots of money to upgrade it. :)

"mans toy" fits it perfectly
It's snowing hard here in Calgary...weird in mid April.

I decided to see how this thing handles moisture. I drain my batteries in falling snow and it worked fine. (I stopped at Walmart on my way home and picked up a hair dryer.) So I carefully dried it for 10 minutes after use to avoid corrosion. I have the Savage 4.6 and in rain or snow, the piston just can't seem take it after a while. But the electric one does. Does anyone else ride it out in moisture?

Also, the electric toy is known for it's 360 back-flip. I've been carefully trying to master it. Too much toddle and it just flips and looses control so it takes practice. But in the midst of it, the connections on the back unplug so I strapped them down with a cable ties.

Is anyone else using this in moisture? Can it cause long term damage to it?

Yes running a savage flux will hurt it. If you haven't waterproofed your esc, chances are you will fry it very quickly.
If you did waterproof it it will last a while but the rest of the truck will wear very fast.
The nitro is not good to run in the snow either. If you're getting water in the engine then that's not good the engine probably wont last long
Servos and radio recievers are also very sensitive to water even if they say they're waterproof, I've fried my share that's for sure

Where's the pictures of this Flux at, why haven't they been posted yet? :D
