Welcome James! I'm quite young too and new into R/C as well. I just bought the 4.6 (RTR) and it seems great. The XL seems to have fewer replacing parts and such and is a bit more expensive. The 4.6 seemed enough for me but I don't know what power your lookin' for. Good luck!

first of all welcome to the forum my friend.. and now to your question well there similar other then the xl is bigger, wider and has the bigger engine to compensate for the extra weight so as long as you go savage you cant go wrong.. i myself am quite happy and satistified with the savage x and dont plan on buying the xl but alot have so either way i guess is a good choice!!

I'm also a newbie... from Norwich. Have just bought a s/h 25rtr for, inc postage from USA, $200.00 which equated to around £135.00. It also came with 4 black 8 spoke wheels http://www.hpieurope.com/showimage.php?imgSrc=/graphics/parts/3136/3136_01.jpg although 1 was already fitted and have to replace the rest as now I have an odd wheel, should be fun as the tyres are glued on!!! lol.

Hi james, im in lincolnshire, i have an X with the hi speed 3rd gear fitted(only £6 to up grade if you have already firred the standard 3 speed box) one of my mates has an XL they are almost identical on acceleration and top end, the XL has slightly better handeling but as yet there are less up grades around for it, you wont be dissapointed with what ever you get. Let us know what you decide.

Welcome James
If you decide to go for the X you can always convert it to an XL later on if you want the extra length/width fairly cheaply using a few new stock XL parts on ebay, thats what ive just done tho im now waiting on FLM extended TVP's to arrive.
All the best with whatever you decide to go with and have fun with it!
