Here is the middle of Brians Savage racer.
Most of the truck was done. All I have done so far was rewired some of it. Added the high speed 3rd gear to the tranny, added a werks clutch with titanium clutch bell on a TEST engine. New engine not installed yet. The new shocks aren't on yet and added the race suspension conversion with the 17mm cvd axles from HPI option parts.

OK, just took it out for a run...... Will have video soon. Not a speed demon but with the Werks clutch and Buku the stock HPI .25 with 47/17 gearing will still pull the front wheels off the ground and pull the taller third gear in the tranny. Brakes are way to sensitive and there is to much body roll.

Thats a great looking truck! I love to hear that people are still racing their Savages. It seems a lot of Savage racers have moved on to other trucks. I will always race my Savage though.

TVP's have been discontinued for ages. The truck is not done by a long shot. Everything has to be cleaned up. all the colored wire ties will be black and so on. was put together to run just to check the running gear. pics of hops trucks in stages of being built and the mess I have in my room. Larcens TVP's are sitting there going into there first fit up and truck idea stage. As for motors for both you will have to wait and see. we have a few ideas to throw around. the racer will be high end the bash will be a basher so nothing fancy.

Almost positive I'm going to pick up a Novarossi N528 XRR modded. Still need to install the Blue Groove anit sway bar and the HPI Big bore shocks. Going to try out the Blue Grove body they have and see if ti fits this setup. More than likely going to change out the servo. It has a Hitec 5945 for a 7955. Still debating if it's really worth it. The 5945 is a 172 oz and the other one is 330 oz. Finally got the 3 speed installed with the 3 speed high gear.

John see if you can or want to get any close up shots of tight areas like the spur clutch area under the steering link area the new suspension at the wheel and the front where the switch is and box. Also how the wires are ran and covered up.

Thanks Buddy.

To do the screens you need:
1st stainless steel or plastic window screen. Fine mesh.
2nd instant zap glue
3rd shoe goop glue
4th q-tips with the ends cut off.
5th sharpie
6th good sharp scissors.

What you want to do is cut out the area for the screen. If you use SS screen it will hold its shape when you bend it. make a paper template for the screen and add a few mm to it for a gluing area. Before you cut out the screen after you Did your outline on it run a bead of CA glue around it to lock the strands in place. Then cut it out. Lay it in the area an tack a corner and let it dry. After it dries every few MM place a drop of CA on the body through the screen. If you do not move the screen the glue will not pull the paint off if you painted the body right. But, remember you can not undo a mistake unless you want to strip all the paint off. After all the tacks have set then you put a bead of shoe goop on the screens edge covering the screen up to the edge of the area you cut out and past the edge of the screen a few mm. This way the shoe goop will have a large contact area. The shoe goop after it sets a minute or 2 needs to be worked in the mesh of the screen. lightly pressing it will do this. Test the shoe goop on a scrap piece of plastic with the type of paint is on your body to verify it will not eat it. HPI painted body's and Pactra spray paint haven't been an issue for me. I will post some inside pics of the body so you can see what i have done. It isn't pretty but unless you rip the body off the truck know one will see it and in that case you have bigger problems anyways. One important thing. this will take some damage but it isn't indestructible and you can rip the screens out of the body do to the paint is the contact area not the plastic. I have ran the heck out of the MKII body with rolls flips and the screens are holding up better than the body.

Anyone that knows me this truck has been redone way too many times. The last member that worked on it fudged it all up to the point it looks like a hack job from hell and that's the truth. I can't over what has been done to it now. Flex tek arms to Blue Groove sway bars to Prue Nitro extreme engine mod on the new Novarossi 3 port .28. To protect that investment I have installed the New Motor Saver air filter. This is just a few things that have been done for this build.

Last but least the radio. Come Jan. I will order the Futaba 4pk and new battery packs. Is this truck clean? Nope and may never really be.

This truck runs on Acer ceramic bearings all the way thru. You have to buy the kit and a few extra to truly complete it even the clutch bell run on ceramic bearing.

Thanks for looking, More info and pics will follow

Robin did an excellent job polishing that engine mount. I'm not real crazy about the FLM mount. Fitment issues there 2 sets of holes on top of the mount and not 4 set's like Novas. John said the Nova .28 sits way to forward when installing it. Nova racing mount would off set that.

Nova mount allows you to adjust from front to back as well as sideways give you the most adjustment when fitting the cb to the spur FLM does not. Nova mount is 7075 alloy FLM is not. Just giving option when One considers an upgrade for one reason or another. I will use the FLM mount for the Nova .21 that is out being modded by Robin and give it a try. When it comes to a mount I personally like to have as much variable as possible.

I'd like to hear the good and the ugly about this build. Just because I'm the owner of the site doesn't exclude me from what you think. I'll be honest and say that rollbar bites. It doesn't look right but does fit the body I'm using. Might send it to Larsen and see if he can cut one for me that is the same height as that one.

Teknoc revo wing mount. Couple reaosns 1st being it came very close to the bolt pattern on the IRC towers and 2nd it is a 4 bolt wing mount, it's solid. Teknoc seems like a very solid reliable mount. At the time the mount ran for $25. The wing is from Blue groove.
