lol the setup gets niceer everyday, and more expensive, but i dont think about that stuff, just think hey those shocks only took 1 days work to get.
I will post some pics in about an hour with the new shocks on, I gotta swap out my front shock tower also, as its no longer there with the lcg mod i did to it.

Initial thoughts, I Like them alot, they seem to be alot stiffer than my last setup, but they should provide a nice ride, they are really smooth and progressivly get stiffer the farther down you push them, I think they are gonna be great for jumping, they dont even bottom out from dropping my truck 4 feet.
I Installed 30w shock oil front and rear, although hpi recommended 20W to start, i figured hey why not comprimise a little and get the stiffer oil.
I left the stock pistons in to try them out, and Im hoping my truck handles nice with how I have them setup now.
The look of the new shocks is deffinatly a nice look, although they could benifit in the looks department from some more colour, at least for me I would like the springs to be blue, but thats just me. Im aware that the hpi hellfire shocks fit so If i can find some blue ones, they will make they way into my home:)
Im about to go breakin My lrp, and I will let you all know how the shocks handle on my truck once im done with that, I dont wanna start bashing yet, but that day will come:)

07-01-2008, 07:20 PM
thanks for the comments guys, i actually am waiting on a new head/pipe from the xl, im unsure if its a good combo for the lrp, but im allready looking into getting a buku:) Canada day for so far is nothing out of the ordinary, besides the fact that there is a huge fireworks show like 100meters from my house.
engine mount got cleaned right off lol, i ordered another one its gonna be a week untill i get a new one. Lrp Is fine now, I checked it out, I didnt hurt it as bad as i thought, I was able to use a few flathead screwdrivers to bend the heatsink back , and the revving of the motor seemed to have no ill side affects.

What is the purpose of the filter on the pressure line? Or is it a preventive measure?

update, I got my engine mount/plate, 23mm hubs, and new ring and pinion gears.

scrogathon
07-13-2008, 09:23 PM
took my Savage out for a spin today, half way through my tank, The brand new rear pinion decided to chew 3 teeth, I then fixed that problem only to find out my driveshaft going to the rear then decides to go out, and upon further inspection half of the ring gear is gone. now to the fun part of waiting 2 weeks for paypal to clear Im now planning how to fix my differential problems, whether it be stock up the stockers or figure out a way to fit some other diffs in. any suggestions greatly aprecciated.

Fixed my Diff problem today, tons of shims on the pinion gear, and some washers here and there, new bearings all around. the diff has apsolutley no play whatsoever, and it pinion now meshes properly. LRP is awesome, I will be posting some videos up tommorow of the big bores being punished.

got some money for my birthday yesterday, and well free money goes to my savage:) going to be ordering Aluminum C-hubs, axle carriers and rear uprights, also need a few misc. parts like new rod ends and 5x10 bearings for the steering mod.

My Savage Is gonna be a savage again soon:)

Still gotta wait for my parts I ordered to really get her going good.

Nice truck. I would do something to protect that servo wire. Some srink tube inside the tvp or something.

Yea Its probably not a good idea having it hang off the side of the chassis like that, Ill do something about it in the morning.

Good job on the build, truck really looks good. Good to hear you fixed the diff problems. If you getting bearings for the steering mod, the bearing size for the posts are 6x10. Just want to make sure you get the right stuff.

they were 14mm, but there good and fixed now. lots of jb weld does the trick.

scrogathon
07-28-2008, 10:09 PM
Wheels didnt hold up well to the jb weld trick, the lrp is just too powerful for its own good lol.
I Boiled the tires today, and managed to get one tire off the rim, but the other one seemed to be pretty stubborn, Ill be boiling it again tommorow.

Should be recieving my FLM Chassis plates some time this week, cant wait:)

Ordering up some RPM a-arms to get rid of my aluminum a-arms which are better suited for shelf, they claimed the bottoms bulkhead brace, its snapped right in two lol.
