I want to buy new I would really like to get a kit I like putting my own stuff together than I know it is done right plus I feel you learn alot about the truck when you do a kit it makes it a lot easier to fix it later on but most importent it gives me an excuse to be in the basement for hours :D

The team associated RC18MT is a nice beginner truck...the kit is a medium to build...and there are tons of hop-ups out there for it including the mamba brushless system.I bought my son a traxxis stampede...and we've fixed it up quite nicely...mostly with FLM parts, chassis,up rights,it looks pretty nice it's self.

I bought the Team associated RC18MT for my 3 year old. We have had a blast playing with it and fixing it up. It is really easy to work on and there are tons of after market hop ups for it.
The only real complaint I have had with it is the spur gear is exposed and if you drive in gravel it tends to chew the gear up. On the plus side the gear is only $3.00 to replace and it only takes a few min to swap it out.
If you decide to go with this truck I highly recomend you get the aftermarket bumper made by RPM it will save your shocks and front end from damage. I learned that the hard way when my 3 year old ran the truck full speed into a curb and bent both front shocks. Since I installed the bumper he has run into a few other things with no damage. If I remember right the bumper was around $7.00.

got my boi an eletric stampede at 3 yrs old. worked out very well caz it has "training mode" so you can cut it down to 1/2 speed. this will allow the truck to run longer/battery charge & it makes the whole thing more enjoyable for father & son.
3-4 year olds tend to use a throttle trigger as a on/off switch.
not a kit, but its been a fun truck for my son.

i recommend the rc18t it can be a blast to play with and has tons or part support and its very porable but doent do good in grass. but the sc10 looks to be a hot elctric and its a scale corr truck and its tough.
