My first Savage build

I traded for this Savage earlier this year. After running it for awhile and breaking diffs, shocks and bending the roll cage, I figured it was time
to build a better truck.
I found this forum and it helped me alot, thanks.

The Integy shocks were bending almost everytime out.
As a machinist I made some 4mm shock rods out of A-2 drill rod and then had them heat treated. I bored out the bodies to accept the new rods.
t"I also replaced the plastic spacers with brass at a much tighter tolerance.
They haven't bent yet.

I also bought 1" extended chassis plates (ebay for $18 w/ dogbone)
4 gear alloy diff upgrade f+r
Free mach .26 motor from friends LST2
Made some .75" wheel spacers
1500ma hump pack
savage X rollbar and engine guard
Added new wheels and body

After I straightened it, it bent easier, so off it went.

Future plans:
3-speed
.32 axial, OS .30 , or lrp .28 spec 3
Lst shocks if these dont work out, I can get free stock ones
Rpm A-arms to cut some weight, only if these bend though

Any other suggestions/opinions please

Truck looks good, If you do major bashing I bet those arms will bend over time.

nice ride looks like it used to be a shelf queen...half a gallon of fuel will take care of that....lol. I like the billet c hub assembly. I don't like purple either but the black sets it off nicely!

As you can see in one of the pics we have snow on the ground and more coming so it wont see dirt for some time just snow.

I dont know about a stock Hpi pipe but its alot quieter than a Jp-3 on this motor when it was in my friends truck.

Nothing beats a good coat of black paint and a pickup truck body. Looks slick. You can de-anodize all your purple parts. Check my sig in the "how-to links"

I actually glass bead blasted the shock towers to remove the purple, it worked good.

Those are 1/4" shoulder bolts that I removed the external thread portion and
drilled and tapped a 5mm internal thread.
I felt this was stronger than just using pins to attach extentions to shafts.
