Well its not confirmed as a savage but the teaser on facebook is a silhouette of a savage.

HPI is announcing a 1/8 scale gas powered truck for 2012!

Could it be?

Should be interesting.

I think it's fake I see a nitro cooling head in that picture. LOL. How in the heck are they gonna fit a gasoline motor in there?? They would have to start over with the design. I just don't really see this happening. But that's just me

Just passing on the info. HPI says gasoline powered 1/8 scale. The pic is definitely a nitro savage not gasoline. But I'd like to see what it really ends up being. Could be shortened baja. could be something new in model engines.
Only HPI knows at this point.

Thats why in marketing they call it a teaser.

nitro mills can be converted to diesel so gasoline isnt that far of a stretch.

im glad to see hpi being creative and innovative

Nitro mills basically are diesels. Glow plugs and compression for ignition.

Gasoline requires an ignition source ie. spark plugs, something to generate a spark and time the ignition as well.

It's very possible... Check out the BME .90 engine, it was converted from a super tiger .90 to gasoline.

It'll be a 26cc possibly 29cc engine, and will look like a savage.Think FireHammer MT by Duratrax.4wd is a good question. I'll lean to yes.

I have google small gas motors and there is a couple companies that do make them even down to 1/10th scale (well that is what they claim it is).

If HPI does make the savage a spark motor it would be a game changer. Nitro motors would flood ebay, Nitro fuel would gather dust in our shops. It would be a new comming! lol

I really hope this is true. Just like what lipo and brushless did for the eletric guys. Nitro needs a something new and fresh.

I don't want nitro to go away like the dodo bird. It does have it's advantages just as gas does too. It just cool to have both.
