well ive heard many of things to put in a diff to give it more grip from thick oil,to glue from a glue gun to jb weld or a spool of sort..i thought uhh thats no good they want it to slip for a reason..here latley ive been noticing that if i did have the rear locked a bit i could of saved my truck alot more..I decided to go with silly putty..Any one else ever try this..I dropped my diff out tonight and filled her up seems tight with some give like i want..hope it just dont turn to mush after a little bit though..ill keep u updated with some pics of what goes on..Anyone else ever done this though?Or whats some things you fella's have used..Thanks

Some people have been doing this on their hpi bajas. Check the baja forums for an answer.

Well fellas took the flux out tonight with a semi locked diff...was sweet at first while I was in some loose stuff, then I climbed on a slide and climbed right up it.So the I go out in the grass and notice it takes a mile for her to turn now..but wow with the terra pins on I can hammer it a bit and slide the but of it out and get it..got a couple jumps in and then went big...was cruising jumped of the top of the hill and flew out about 10 yrds or so.was so sweet wish my gal had video tapped it but it was too cold lol..anyways landed with a little to much gas on I guess cause I heard the clicking and stopped..a guy walked up and said man what is that and where did ya get it lol...he said damn I was about to get my phone out to record cause that was some sweet stuff..any way got back home tore it down expecting blowed diff...surprised to see the bevel was broke but diffs was fine..now can't decide if I want grease in or what weight oil or back to silly putty?any suggestions...what caused it to happen..the diffs move a little on the landing or have something to do with putty...here's some pics

i use regular car grease in mine .. the pinion gear and ring gear are the comon ones to get stripped out ... the gears in side rarely ever get ate up ... they are for turning .. the ring gear n pinion gear strip when jumping n landing with to mutch throtle or breaks aplied ... so it slams the drive lines in park sorta speack or like dropping the clutch on a 1:1 .. it slams the gears against each other ... thats why it ate yours up...hope my description explains it lol..

Ya perfect explanation max...totally understand that..just figured out my truck didn't have the bp in it any way..truck is only 5 months old and has the old diffs with the 44/13 tooth.so I called hpi and chatted with them and they told me to send a email with a picture of it and they would let me know..hopes its good news if not imma have about 70 0r 80 bucks in drive train upgrades..I think im gonna rolls with silicone oil in my diffs..just not sure what viserocity ..im thinking like like 50,000 front 70 middle 50 rear?well thanks anyway and your paint jobs are 2 thumbs up

thx about the paint jobs.... and as for the dif oil weights .... use thicker in the frnt thinner in the rear.... it helps it turn better ... and keeps the front from unloading so easy in turns... one front wheel will unload really fast n easy when turning with the lighter fluid in the front diff... so thicker fluid in front lighter in the rear ....

Well just a little update here and its good news for me..really digging hpi though..love their products and now hooking me up on parts.called and talked to a guy on Thurs about my diffs not being the bp and not being but 4 to 5 months old and he asked me to send a pic of the breakage and they would send out replacements if they thought was defective.got my email today saying they would be shipping the replacements out,but shipping is a lil behind due to inventory.but just another reason for meand you all to love and purchase their products.

Your truck must have been old stock that hadn't moved before the update. Mine was one of the first off the line, bought it in Feb, 09. They still replaced mine free with BPs. I didn't get the upper drive gear free, though, as I didn't think of it till after I'd bought the upgrade myself. Silly me...
