if they allowed the sav mini to accept 1:8 diffs then that would be awesome!!!!

the thing i dont understand on the 1/8 savage x is there still using the same fuel tank setup and it still doesnt come with a center skid plate which i think is important for protecting the drivetrain.......

yes... it is crazy they havent rectified that problem... at least it leaves a little modding for the enthusiast
Shaun
02-05-2011, 08:56 AM
ya thats true enough, and if they added all the little things to it would cost alot more im sure!!! lol
hpi should make there own midtank kit,so you have the option of midtanking it and sticking with hpi parts, everyone seems to be doing it,they would make a killing i think!!

finally they are starting to offer waterproof servos, maybe one day there will be a completely waterproof electronics set up.
Shaun

Great link!
I think the orange anodizing is going to look really sharp on the X update! I like orange :)
I'd defently have to add the 5sc ss and the mini savage to the wishlist. The nano would be perfect for the house :) rockout

hmm to have an honest opinion, the new savage x4.6 isn't all that Special. All they did was replace the plastic parts with a few metal ones, change the body, the shocks, and paint it different. Not that special if you ask me

Lets be honest here. When you go to purchase a brand new nitro truck you dont purchase a specific truck because of its color's and paint scheme. YOu purchase it for the quality. All that HPI did was what you mentioned which is not a lot if you ask me, they changed the body and the colors to give us the look that they have a brand new model. How much will it cost, anyone know?

I have to admit I was a little disappointed when I opened the announcement email. The 5sc has been out for a little while now and the new Savy just didn't impress me. I think they could have done a little more than diffs and shocks.
Maybe change the design of the TVP some and make them thicker? A center skid would have been a big plus too. Oh! and aluminum rear carriers.
It seems HPI got a little lazy on this release.

There are three great upgrades to the platform. The big bore shocks, bullet proof diffs, and water proof servos! Lets face the reality of this though who is going to spend the money that they want for a new Savage when most of us have already done these upgrades to our current Savages. All and all I say good for them, this is great for some one buying there first Savage.

yup i saw that 5sc ss but for $1125 i think that is to much especially when you get the rtr for like 100 more

i agree, but they are charging you 100 dollars to assemble it more, thats a rip off IMO

You also get a throttle servo and rx with the rtr for the money. Those don't come in the kit so your in for another $150 or so for that on top of the kit and thats only if you have your own radio. People who dont would have to spend even more than that on the kit.

yeah your right, forgot about the servo's and the radio. I guess its better to get the RTR but the baja RTR for 1140 or something is too much for my budget. IDK i wouldnt spend that much

I' just wondering about the diffs on the X4.6. They say it's a bigger module, does that mean they're actually upgrading the bevel and spider gears? Because with the bulletproof ring and pinion gears, the internal gears are about the only weak spot left in my Flux.

It looks like a rebody to me...I get the idea of some of the new features, but I would rather have gotten an old kit, save some money, and get the opportunity to pick my own special upgrades. I'm not that impressed, besides I like getting a custom body and painting it how I see fit anyhow so I'm not that impressed with the new paint or body.

lol.. ive owned alot of rcs and ive owned every traxxas rc i liked and i think its time to try something better. can anyone tell me if the savage x would be a good choice? i want something brand new for around 500.00 and i really like the x. ive had them before but not for long due to changing rcs alot. i had the xl and i felt like it was too long.. can anyone help? ideas would be great. im a traxxas or hpi guy and i dont do any extreme bashing i just like to show off in my street and at family get togethers and what not, i love big blocks and that raw power. what do u all think of the x for my next rc?

Sorry I am late to the party,
You have to admit but, since the savage x came out it was a pretty good bit of kit. Other than the tank issue. ( It is one of those million dollar questions.)
Good to see that hpi does listen to us and threw in the bigbore shocks and a decent radio in.
Real question is why does HPI only offer certain products to certain parts of the world?

savage nano is nothing more than a 1/18th scale monster truck similar to the minizillia that came out years ago...
