The time has come to build me a flux :)
I never thought i would go BL but after getting some flux tvps from TripleSix, that got me going on the flux build.

and after that it started with a simple ebay order to make it a roller.

Ok so that's it for now.
I'm waiting on a flux screw kit (all the stock screws) mainly for the bumpers, skid plates stuff like that. The MMM Combo will be here next week. In the pictures i didn't even mount the big bores :lmao: ill get around to it.

The PRC wont be any time soon, might be able to pick it up with the cash from my tax return :)

Ill update you guys when the MMM comes in.

cheers

What does the esc mount do Frddyj?

The extended motor mount allows you to mount the esc behind the motor instead of the stock place above the motor on that little plastic perch.

Brandon, would the prc motor plate work with the flm tvps?

if the flm tvps are xl length (and i think they are) you can get the prc extended motor plate. its extra long and you can simply wire tie your esc to it behind the motor like bank did.

i have the ext prc's so i didnt have the length back there to fit the esc so i used a flm cross brace and bolted to it. came out kick butt & very well protected back there.

using the ext motor plate back there is about a zillion times easier.

Do you have any pics of the clearance on the shock and upper a arm?
Did you use the stock mounting on the tup of the shock? I can't really tell in the pics.

You must have a good pvc cutter, with the one I got from Home Depot I get a squarer cut with my hacksaw.

I personally like the rulux better. I just got a set myself with badlands. Did you mount the bead on the inner ring or the outer? Kinda looks like the outer ring since the sidewall has the buldge. I mounted them to the inner ring and glued them and glued the to the outer ring also. The sidewall looks much better, and being glued twice, should never come off.

xll-SavageX-llx
01-30-2011, 01:21 AM
There is a inner ring and outer ring ?
I guess mine are mounted on the outer ring.

I like the rulux better too.
For some reason the badlands look to small with the dish wheels on the XL tvps and with the rulux wheels they look decent.

Can you snap a pic of yours ?

wow they look like there mounted on normal wheels haha.
Ill dye my wheels and mess around with them.

I also noticed the badlands stretched from being on the rulux wheels, i took the rulux wheel off and put on the dish and it slid right on with about 1/8" of play between the dish and the tire.

TripleSix
01-30-2011, 01:26 AM
The bead on yours is sitting inbetween the lip and the inner ring. If you move the bead to the inner ring and glue it, the sidewall will still be tight on the lip and you can just run another bead of glue. It just gets rid of the buldge and looks a little better imo. I like this combo either way.

TripleSix
01-30-2011, 01:29 AM
Yup, the rulux wheel are a little bit bigger. They are the same size as proline lpr. Set up like this reduces the sidewall for less side wall roll.

xll-SavageX-llx
01-30-2011, 01:31 AM
ok cool, learn something new every day.
I was going to sell the rulux wheels and go with the dish but now after seeing yours and understanding the wheel more ill keep them. Get some ritz dye tomorrow after work and ye the black.

TripleSix
01-30-2011, 01:34 AM

Yes I noticed that as well.

Those are going to look great! I bought some badlands on ebay a while back and they were mounted on yellow dishes. I wish they weren't glued yet but the price was right, or else I would have dyed them too.

IMO i like the inner better.
Gives it more of a LPR tire look.
Ill grab some ritz dye and dye them black, and see what they look like after that.

The inner bead mounts will help in turning and accelarations out of corners. The outer bead will help on straights and normal straight driving.

Thanks for the info Joe.

Just wondering if i should tape them ?

I would just buy good foam IE OFNA MT foams. Trouble is associated with taping.

Sorry for leaving you guys hanging. Just playing the waiting game. Buddy with the MMM combo should of been here last week end but never showed up because of the weather (snow), he mean't to come on Wednesday but he thought i lived in a Different town so he didn't want to travel 45mins out of his way to come back so he should and better be here tomorrow. Also going to pick up a 40w soldering iron and get these deans on my packs and since it will be my first time soldering it might not work out so good :lmao:

i would definitely tape the badlands... i made the mistake of not. And it made driving in a straight line a little difficult with these brushless systems...

I have heard good things about mounting on the inner bead... i may give it a go next time too...

But gorilla tape is the best tape i have come across so far and with a quick alcohol rub down, the tape will NOT come off!

loving the build!

The badlands aren't glued yet so i can still tape them.
All i can do it try, if i tape them i can always use the backing method and remove the tires and take the tape off.

• Castle MMM 2200

• XSS Screw set, 44t spur gear and flux axles (found out they don't fit the STD hubs)
http://i568.photobucket.com/albums/ss130/RiiFFY69/Savage%20Flux%20Build/IMG_3924.jpg

• Top view of the screws, $8 for all of them
http://i568.photobucket.com/albums/ss130/RiiFFY69/Savage%20Flux%20Build/IMG_3928.jpg

• Came up with a brain fart
and made a rear mount for the esc. Drilled out a hole that was already in the tvp
http://i568.photobucket.com/albums/ss130/RiiFFY69/Savage%20Flux%20Build/IMG_3939.jpg

• used the engine braces that came with screw kit

http://i568.photobucket.com/albums/ss130/RiiFFY69/Savage%20Flux%20Build/IMG_3941.jpg

• Clearance with the rear brace

• Drilled 4 holes and used 4x 3Mx10mm flat heads
http://i568.photobucket.com/albums/ss130/RiiFFY69/Savage%20Flux%20Build/IMG_3952.jpg

• Like i said before i need the TRX esc mount to mount the esc

• Clearance from mount to drive shaft

• Pretty nice fit
http://i568.photobucket.com/albums/ss130/RiiFFY69/Savage%20Flux%20Build/IMG_3949.jpg

• and for the HPI motor mounts i called a machine shop
and they will charge me $10 to bore out my mounts to the required inner dia to kit the MMM can
http://i568.photobucket.com/albums/ss130/RiiFFY69/Savage%20Flux%20Build/IMG_3948.jpg

• This body has seen better days.
Ill be running this on the flux till i can get some throttle control :)
http://i568.photobucket.com/albums/ss130/RiiFFY69/Savage%20Flux%20Build/IMG_3954.jpg

• Standard, Extended and XL body mount differences

I'm thinking of taking a trip to the LHS and spending the $4 on the TRX esc mount and get a few runs in. Then place my tower hobbies order and do buddy shipping. rather pay $10 ($5 & $5) then $25 straight to me.
More to come soon........
