View Full Version : engine prob
today i went out with my savage and after about 5 mins or so the pullstart would not retract and the engine was very stiff. i took it apart and found the that the pull start snapped in half .so that was that thing solved but why was the engine stiff to pull.
while i was there, i twisted the one way bearing but the fly wheel was not spinning, but when i twist the fly wheel the one way bearing spins. is this normal?
thanks for the help 4x4
I'm a little confused by you post but heres what I would do.
-remove pull start and one way from the motor
-remove the glow plug
-spin the flywheel
-when you spin the flywheel the piston should move up and down and the rod coming out from the back of your motor should spin as well
If everything moves properly then your engine is fine. Next I would check the one way bearing. If that is fine then it's your pullstart, replace the broken parts, make sure your rebuilding it right and you should be ready to roll.....err, run i mean.
Hpi has a section on their site on how to rebuild a pull starter.

as above. just to make sure you were spinning the owb the right way?? also if the owb is n its way out or is shot, it will just slip and not turn the engine over.
