To upload your vid. You should be able to use your gallery ( pic upload ). The same holds true for vids. You can only upload one at a time. Later tonight I'll look up the max file size for vids.

Great video, how does it compare to the surefire?

Jeremy
02-02-2007, 02:21 PM
The surefire has more bottom end gurnt while the sts. has the top end... But the sts .30 has great all aroung power if u gear the surefire right it will propbably give the sts a run for it money on the top

that surefire it awesome, if you put a 20/47 gear combination, it doesnt have any torque, but when you get it going, it ffffllllllyyyyyysssss. with a 18/49 it did pretty good too.

Jeremy
02-03-2007, 10:32 PM
it will put a huge load on the engine if u gear it that high not very good for it (but fun I bet) thats what its all about after all I gess

jester you haven't removed any shims from your 30 right ? thats where the extra tourque is hiding, STS 30 comes with either 2 or 3 extrra shims to make break in easier, from factory it is shimmed to run 60% Nitro LOL.... If your running all the extra shims and 20% fuel your seeing about 60% of that engines total performance.... for 20% fuel most people run just 1 copper shim....

Once shimmed correctly the STS 30 has more power everywhere then the Surefire 32....

you really need to remove some shims man !!!! its in the engines design !!!!

I likely have run and modded more STS 30's then anyone on this site... please trust me...

remove your head button and count the shims !!! with 20% run just 1 silver shim...

I did remove my head shims, I had clutch problems this weekend (or tranny problems) not sure yet what is the problem, I think I need a new pilot nut and springs,(I have them on order) the stock pilot nut was letting the real stiff springs slip off, also I tweaked a spring I think,
If the new springs and nut wont help, I will will have to dig into the tranny

(problem was this)
At a low rpm the tranny would shift decent, but as soon as I would give it full throttle the tranny wouln't shift and it would just let the engine rev and full speed...(kinda like the clutch was slipping ) I did go back to stock clutch after the nut problem w/ the mugen springs...

so that was the problem and suggestions would be great also if anyone has any. I did check the pins in the diff cups, the diffs, also I had a stripped wheel hex, I swapped out rims and it still does it so IDK any help would be great

sounds like you need to pull the tranny out !!! either that or the stock cluch is not able to hold the power and is just slipping.... with 17/49 and a well tuned STS 30 the stock clutch is going to be taxxed beyond its capabilities IMHO...

did you notice more snap with the shims removed ?

Jeremy
03-19-2007, 07:17 PM
I couln't really tune it in b/c of the rev problem..... so it was running like crap on the low end. Also the stock clutch help up for awhile whit the sts so I dont know at this point ..
