I tend to freak out a lttle if my temp goes over 250* my surefire .32 rns best at like 220* I know ists not a good Idea to tune your mill at a certian temp but I don't want to get it that hot just wondering what u guys run them at

i run 220 to 250 and have had my engines last for years the limit is 275 so 250 is perfect for me

do u guys notice when u idle for 10 secs and hit full trottle it feels slow then after couple secs the car will go faster.

this is like -10 to -15 celsius temp. outside

everyone tells me that i run mine too hot but as i showed the guys at my lhs my mach .28 runsbest around 290 F. If i richen it up to run around 250 it cuts out and most of the time it will die at top speed. Maybe my temp gauge is off!

^^^^ thats to hot I would say u need to adjust your settings anyway one question How does your engine drop rmp after full throttle does it drop right away or does it rev allot befor it drops?????? U might have an air leak somwhere ????!!!!!!!

LOL you guys are going to laugh at my cousin--he runs his HPI .25 @ 300*-320* if he riches it up it doesn't run for anything. This thing has lots of power and a good strong smoke trail at those temps, and it is sealed. Any thought on this. My self try to keep my temps under 280*, I watch and listen to the engine more than worry about temps though.

220 to 290 here but I live in a real humid area and depends on the engine im running and if its summer or winter, usaly 260 or higher Im like stealth. some of my motors will not run worth a crap unless there at least 265 or higher.....I have no air leaks and my motors will idel forever. I have never had a motor burn up my mach .26 ran the best at 270 to 285. the os. 30 likes it around 275, my highly moded star .25 likes 220 to 265. but you have to concider in the summer its 90+ here and extremly humid.winter usaly 40 to 60 and humid...

No there are no leaks. Like ive said even the guys at my lhs have seen what happens when i try to richen it just a hair. When i release the throttle the rpms drop too. This motor screams and runs a full tank with no problems.

that is really odd

How long has he had the mill I wonder how long its going to last be that temp all the time Did he ever replace the o-rings on the low end or top end needles might want to check into that

It has somewhere around 6+ gallons on it, and it is still going strong. To answer the second part of the question, he has changed the carb on it once, and did a seal job on that when it was installed.

Nope. That's why I got an STS /28 threw the S-25 in the box for a raingy day or for my dad if he decides to get a truck or something.

my 4.1 runs between 280-300 with 3 gal through it. my buddy has a savy 25 with a picco27 and he has had it up to 400 with a good smoke trail

I run 240 to 275 I don't check it as much as I did when I 1st started running if it's running good I don't worry about it and heck if I cook the motor I guess that just means I have to buy a new and improved one :)

HI Guys. Q? Big COLD front in PNW (rare) anyways Got About 5" fresh powdery snow in the hood. So beins I had no choice bolted stockers on front and paddle tires on the back and took the savvy out. (finally) I'm running a Axial .28, it seems to be running strong, good smoke. Even pulling wheels up and carryin, but even after cycloning at full throttle. The temps barely reaching 100 degrees. I realize It's cold but could I maybe need to lean it or should I leave it. I'd like to get more out of it if possible. Ticks the neighbor with the new revo 3.3, the more the better. White stuff won't be around long and i'd like to abuse it as much as possible.

Stop right there do not lean it out to raise thoes temps THATS NOT GOOD MAN if its cold out u need to richen it if anything yea I said richen it up ....put some tin foil on the head of it to help thoes temps but don't lean it out cold air is more dence and more air means more fule

runoverbysavage is absolutely correct in what he said. The cold air is more dense which means the air molecules are closes together and don't move around as much as warm air molecules, so more fuel is needed to mix with cold air when compared to running in warm air.
Ways to get your temps up when running in cold weather, wrap the head like said above with tin foil, or use a silicon hot pad cut to fit the cooling head (can be found in the kitchen section of most any store). The silicon is waterproof, withstands high heat and would retain slightly more heat than the tin foil. If you have a body with no hole drilled for cooling you could also run that to help reduce airflow to the engine.

Thanks guys, I'll just leave it alone maybe do the foil thing, but it should warm up, eventually, darn cold here though.

I tend to run my 4.6 around 195 in the winter and 220-240 in the spring/summer.

my Axials seem to run best between 260 and 280.

I say this,

Tune for performance, not temperature! My X4.6 ran great at about 250ish. My MGT8.0 gets up to around 275F when im really romping on it. At the end of the day, they both still fired up, and when they cool off the pinch is tight as a knot.

my .28 runs best at 275-305, and it runs strong as hell

i ran my f46 at 335, and the pinch was lowered dramatically. i can almost roll it over with ease (leading to starting problems). it runs like a banshee at 275-290.

I run my F-4.6 at 250 tops. It runs good. When it's about 80 outside, I'll hit 270 max. That's not often though. :)

I keep my temps between 220-250 I like to run on the safe side
