Does anynody have anyways to clean a fuel tank? I don't wanna use fuel, because it's expensive.

Rubbing/denatured alcohol works, so does nitro cleaner (expensive though), and so does electric motor cleaner. I think I've even used automotive brake cleaner with good success.

Why not brake cleaner? I love that it evaporates quickly and leaves no residue.

well, when I started this hobby, my buddy (the one that got me hooked) told me he cleans his whole rig (a Revo) by spraying wd-40 on it, and then blowing it dry with compressed air...

I tried that after the first time out running, and the 2nd time out running, every damn dust particle that my Sav kicked up stuck to every surface of my truck like a fricken magnet...

NEVER AGAIN!!!

the denatured alcohol works well though, and leaves no residue...but you gotta work kinda quick, before it evaporates...

Yeah, denatured works well, my problem is trying to get it with a good, high-pressure spray. Squirt bottles are okay, but it's tough to beat aerosol. I use Simple Green a lot, too.

good old soap and water works for me. strip the truck and clean it all out in the sink.

done that as well...after the wd-40 episode, tore it all down, and threw the parts in the sink with some dish-soap...works well, but takes too long to do it that way on a regular basis...

i only do it about once every 3 or 4 weeks after main racing days. good way to check out the whole truck aswell.

with the fuel tank just take it off quickly and wash it. its not screwed down or anything

I mean on the inside of the fuel tank

I mean on the inside of the fuel tank
What is in the inside of the tank that needs cleaning? I use wd-40 in my tank to clean the tank filter. Spay some in the fuel line holes and a big shot through the flip top, then swirl and shake the tank around. Dump out and blow if desired with gentle air, but I usually let it air dry or run a little amount of fuel through the tank.

I do the same, but with denatured alcohol.

I cleaned up my tank recently.
I took it off and connected a fuel line from the inlet to the outlet to seal it up. Then I cleaned it in the sink with 409 degreaser and a toothbrush.
If you are talking about cleaning the inside, I have not done that, but I would use denatured alcohol. The fuel has alcohol in it after all.

i feel the only time that a tank needs to be cleand is if it has something in it (dirt, sand, grass, ect) otherwise i leave mine alone

To clean my tank out, I blow WD 40 through the lines, then swirl a little denatured alcohol around in the tank. As for a cleaner I use this formula.

1 part simple green
1 part denatured alcohol
1 cap full of wd40

Any degreaser may turn your adonized parts so be careful. I find that combo with a little elbow grease works well. But an air compressor really makes the job easy. Something like this is what I plan on getting.

Hope she is quiet, its big enough for what I wanna do.

I got a 2 gallon compressor for Christmas for to clean my X but it runs out of air too fast. I took it back and plan on getting an 8 gallon one. FYI

Just read this like a month ago in one of the Rc mag. I just started using it, seems to be working just fine. Cheap, easy and effective.

Actually it is 1 part simple green and 2 parts Den. alcohol and a cap of wd-40

Yea I read the combo off some website. I found that if I up the denatured alcohol a bit hop it dries quicker. Depends what I'm doing and how grungy it is. If I have a air compressor available and the truck is really dirty I use a lil more simple green. If no air compressor, then more denatured alcohol.

My friend hosed his revo off with water then let it air dry. :eyecrazy: Now every single hex hole is rusted out. *points and does the nelson laugh*

haa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
