No, using the machines for personal use is immediate termination here. They are really touchy about that since a dude crashed a Haas VF8 making a part for his car.

my name is michiel, I`m 30 and I drive a VW caddy all across holland to pick up and deliver goods from mostly tool grinding services.
I haven`t got a wife or kids, only 2 little cousins of 2 and 4 years old but I spend more time with them than I`m at my own home.
the oldest already has a sav 3.5 and the youngest is currently being `educated` with an RC toycar so he can end up with a sav by the time he gets 4 yrs old.

Hi michiel I would be sacred to let my 2 year old to drive my savage when he gets older for sure!!!!
hehehe, the 2yr old is only allowed to lay his hands on is on the steering wheel.
I aint gonna give him throttle control yet lol
the 4yr old does run his sav all by himself, it did take 1,5 year of `education` though.
I let them start with an off-road toy car, when they can handle that I`ll start teaching them to run a hopped up mini-Z monster in the living room over here, after that they go up to the mini-inferno stadium and then I`ll teach them how to run my SS4.6.
I`m glad to have a programmable radio so I can program it not to run at full throttle, ideal for teaching little kids to drive nitro-trucks because I can slowly increase the max speed everytime I think they get better.
in my opinion a sav 3.5 is perfect for little children, lock it into 1st gear and keep the engine a little rich, this way it will run quite slow and we all know how hard it is to break a sav, especially at those nikko-like speeds.
the oldest one (thomas) now runs a very mean sav 3.5 with the tranny properly adjusted and a nova coolinghead and he knows how to wheelie it all across the backyard and he knows how to run it on 2 sidewheels.
he also hits the ramp at full throttle, I wonder how he will be driving when he gets 6..........

Favorite? Overall my favorite is the Savage, it's also the one I've had the longest (original Savage 21 from January, 2003). But others are fun for various reasons as well. The GT is simple, light, and tough, 1/8-scale buggies are awesome, on-roads are a blast....they're all fun.
No pics of the entire collection, unfortunately, but here's a shot of my Storm, SUT, and RC10GT from a while back, the day after a big race.

By the way Chris, Ill give u some advise and that truck of yours. Have you ever had a nitro truck before? If not the first thing I woould do is go over every nut and screw make sure there tight, and ready for abuse.Next start braking the engine in, Do what the manf. says to do for barke in.. Don't be in a rush take your time at this it will pay off in the long run. Any your engine will think you for it...(OOO yea If it was mine I would put a little after run oil in the carb to start it for the first time . Use it after every RUN.. drop some in the carb or take the glow plug out and drop a few drops in the head) Also I would think real hard about sealing the engine up.. there is other threades here that will explain that very well check them out...This will help you with any airleakes down the road. Also make tunning allot easiesr for you..... Anyway start off slow and don't rush the process.. get a cupple spare glow plugs and some afterrun oil and mabey a spur gear or 2 and u should be set..... Then there hop ups theres where u get hooked they get expensive $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ any questions feel free to ask later buddy
R6 DADDY
12-23-2006, 10:28 AM
h
what you mean by sealing up the engine ??
any idea which plugs i should be usin??
it came with my first hop up free from hpi hardened spur gaer set i think something like that
thanks
chris
Jeremy
12-23-2006, 10:51 AM
what Truck did u get the ss x or what
Sealing the engine = makeing sure there is no airleaks even a brand new engine will have a airleak take alook and some of the othere threade there is allot of info on that subject..... take allok at this link http://www.rchobbies.org/cars_eng-tuning.htm read it all there allot od good tips on the tunning and stuff the second page tells about sealing the engine
On the glow plug I know its cold where u live Its is here also so right now Iam running a mcoy mc 59 plug its a hotter plug because its so cold it helps burn the fule better....anyway u might want to think about getting a tempature gauge U can find a hand held unit for like 30 dollars I have the duratrak infer red one it works great When u brake in that engine u need the head of it to stay warm like 220* if u need to put a old sock over the head also when its cold after the brake in becareful on leaning that engine out.... (u will need to a little) because cold air is more dence (more air meens more fule) anymore questions just ask chris later buddy

Hi all..
New to the forum also.... I have been into RC off and on for the past 15 years. I started out with a Tamiya Frog and F1 road car.
I got out of the hobby for a long time. Then I got into gliders, mainly the attack type gliders. I have one that I am putting together as we speak. But then I saw some kids playing with a gas powered car in the park and man was I feeling the urge. So I mentioned to my wife in passing and what do you know for xmas this year was a nice Savage X under the tree!! One happppppyy camper.
By day I work on computers, have a graphics/web site business on the side along with other ventures... I also love photography!
Happy to be here and I can't wait to start modding out my Savage X..... I have been looking at some of the street cars and my next car is going to be the Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec 3.3 RTR Sedan........... Give me more speed!

While I sit in my basement building radio controlled hybrids when i'm home. I also pack up my shop and take it with me on the road.
I usually take a savage tmaxx xxxnt jammin x1-crt and my entire tools and parts invintory.
I got in to rc about 3 1/2 years ago but started with slot cars long before.
I am verry experienced with modding dc electrical motors for slot and rc I also use to manufacture and sell silicone slot tires and neodymium traction magnets. I did verry well with it to the point where I couldnt keep up with production then the guy on ebay who I was buying materials from caught on to my products and cut me out. But it was all a good expierience.
I can make a tyco slotcar an absolute blur.
All in all I love building modded machines more than anything.

my name is jeff. i'm 28 and live in cincinnati, ohio. i got the nitro fever in dec. 06' when my friend lended me the slap ma fro fighting gravity dvd. within a month of seeing that video i bought a revo 3.3. then i saw the savage x w/ the 3 spd tranny and fell in love. i sold my revo on ebay and bought the x and a 3 speed tranny from slap ma fro. i put the 3 spd in as soon as i opened the box. i love this truck. i have beaten the hell out of it and it has taken almost everything i have thrown at it. so far i have broken one control arm and busted the gas tank. i have a wife, 2 sons, and a daughter. for a living i service heating and air conditioning equipment. every night when i get home i check out this website to learn all i can about my truck. my 2 year old son loves the nitro truck videos. so i let him sit on my lap when i'm reading info on the savage and when my wife comes in and gets mad cause i'm always looking at r/c stuff, i flip on a truck video and get him laughing and tell her u can't make me get off of the computer you'll make him cry.

I'll be sure to check that site out, about all I've ever owed were T-maxxes, never really had any problems, but I've heard there junk. I didn't really ever get tired of the hobby,I just sold my first maxx and a RC10 GT to buy a couple international scouts, and later a smartech onroad, because it was junk, and I really didn't have anywhere to run it, and a few months ago another T maxx for a little money to spend on a old '51 international pickup I had. I had aways wanted a savage because i had heard so many good things about them, just couldn't get up the extra money to buy one. the one i'm getting has a couple hop ups, it should be here some time today, I can't wait :coolone:

Hi guys my name is Ron. I am 40 yrs old and I am a Computer geek, guru, basically I am a Computer Systems Admin, Computer Tech, Printer Tech, basically I am a troubleshooter. If I am not building someone a custom system, I am either shooting something with the Xbox, Playstation or my paintball gun. I have always played with toy RC cars, then 2 ½ years ago I bought a SMaxx. Tore it apart and rebuilt it many times, then my buddy picked up a Savage SS. We both race on-road down here in Florida. After 2 seasons of him kicking my butt I sold the Now converted TMaxx and bought a Used Savage X. Have been running several seasons taking 2nd and 3rd place. And so is the reason I have found my self here. I am tired of the 2nd and 3rd place. So with the help and some excellent info and tuning tips I hope to dig myself out of the 3rd place rut.

Welcome to the forum Ron. Are you running a 3 speed in your Savage?
Yes, the track i race on is actually 2 tennis courts. So it is not a huge track. With the Os 30vg I had it set up where it was barely in 1st and would kick into 3rd bout halfway down the straightaway. So when I get the STS D30M, which according to the feedback I got from it and the Axial, The STS D30M should be as powerful and maybe even more than my old OS 30vg. That way i will not have to make any adjustments to the tranny.

Hi all...My name'e Greg, and I'm addicted to toys.....:slapped:
I live in Longmont, CO, just north of Denver. I am 37, with a wife and twin sons who'll be 5 in April. (Not my wife...just the kids)
My wife and I own a sign store in Fort Collins that we purchased last fall. Before that, I had spent the last 18 years working my *** off in the auto industry, mostly parts, high-performance/racing parts, and working in a couple of hot rod shops. I even went as far as to get certified in EFI tuning and dyno operation. Now, I get to stay at home with the boys and race Micro-Ts in the house. (Whaaaaa.....:crying: ) I still repair/tune/hot-rod the big cars on the side at home, to keep me sane. I still miss racing big-time (see me in the pictures thread) and I'll return someday when I have $$$, But at least I have the Savy whenever I need to smell some exotic fuel!

Always wanted to know your real name (do you go by Jim?)
My dad worked for Burlington northern for a few years .. until the accident
Grumpy1822
07-23-2008, 09:33 PM
Jim or Jimmy. Either one works. I said it in the shout when you asked, but somebody posted a pic I think and bumped it off. I was wondering if you saw it.
Accident? is he ok? The RR is a dangerous place.
Jeremy
07-23-2008, 10:04 PM
Must have missed your name Jim ..
He's ok.. He will never be able to work again tho (this happed like 12 years ago) He was working on a gang.. he was loading spikes onto a spike driver machine.. .. while he was dumping the bucket of spikes, The machine derailed.. Thus caused him to loose balance and he broke his back.. He has went under 2 surgery's .. They want to do more (he wont he says)
Bottom line he sued the RR and got a huge settlement.. And now lives off of Social Security and his pention.. He owes his own house and everything so he's set.. Just never work again That all .. Could have been ALLOT worse
Jeremy
07-23-2008, 10:09 PM
ooooh I forgot .. 2 years after the incident .. He was trying to collect Social Security .. they denied him.. he Went threw hell trying to get approved .. 8 years after (3 times trying ) we moved to Idaho and Then he applied again. AND WAS APPROVED .. So S.S had to pay ME and Him back S.S So he got another large settlement.. Why did I get money well I was in School at the time ..
Grumpy1822
07-23-2008, 11:12 PM
Glad to hear he is s well. S.S. dosent like RR workers because of our seperate pension. Rail Road retirement is completely seperate from S.S. we stop paying S.S. when we start with the RR. I'm glad he got a decent settelement from the RR. They are really stingy. Very dangerous conditions and they dont want to fix anything. They act like its your fault when you get hurt.

Actually, My name is Mike. I am 34 years old. I am (of course) the Prez of No Limit R/C of Maryland. I have a beautiful little girl, she's 5 and asked for dancing lessons the other day because she wants to sing and dance on TV. I've known my wife since I was 18 but we met back up on my 25th B-Day and we have been together ever since. She, like Joey's Wife, got suckered into running the computer at NLMD Events and she actually enjoys it now, lol.
I am probably the only one on this site without a Savage. I have a Revo 3.3 (The General) and I have a T-maxx 3.3 that I am converting to a Big Block.
I am Vice-President of a Construction Company. Times are hard, but we have stayed busy the last 6 months. I do everything from Estimating the Job, Negotiating, Ordering Materials, all the way until it comes to the collecting the money part. I leave that up to my Boss.
and in my spare time, I mess with my R/C's, Repair other peoples R/C's, Ride my 4-wheeler, and play Hide and Seek with my Daughter.

Hello, my name is Doug and I am 40 years old. Just a kid trapped in a mans body...lol. My son zack(12) and I love rc cars. I have had them on and off since I was a kid. I now have a savage xl and my son has a t-maxx 3.3 that we got from santa. Since x-mas we have both gotten new bodies. Mine is a 1950 Ford-F100 and his is a 1969 Dodge charger. Sorry Chevy guys I couldnt find an old school chevy anywhere. This was our first attempt to paint a body and I think they came out good for a first try. I will get pics up soon. We just kind of bash in the yard and street right now because we are new to Palm Bay Florida and havent found a track yet. Oh yeah we did add some new parts to them as well my son got the rpm skid plates in blue to match his t-maxx and I bought an orange antenna straw, orange fuel filter, and orange fule line to match the black and orange savy. Cant find any other hop up parts for the savy:(. Thats about it for us and we think this site is great keep up the good work guys.

Hi, I'm new to this forum but have been looking at RC stuff since december 2008. My name is Michaël and I'll be 22 years old in about 5 days. Let's hope I will get my Savage pretty soon too (currently short on money)!
The only driving experience I have with RC cars/trucks to date is driving my old Tyco toy truck and my brother's Radio Shack truck (both are complete crap, but the Tyco was fun when I got it a long time ago). So you can guess it will be quite like night and day when I finally get my Savage!
I got to see heli and other hobby RC driving when I was about 10-12 years old and have been obsessed with these ever since. I only recently considered purchasing one because it would have been out of question due to the price a while ago.
I already got myself a couple of accessories / tools for the truck, now I only need to purchase the truck itself!

My name is Mike (obviously, by my screen name LOL!). I live in Northern California. And when I say northern I mean it. I like how all these people from Sac and the Bay Area think they live in "NorCal". That's almost the middle of the state LOL! Anyhow, I have a Savage XL, an HPI Super Nitro RS4 1/8 touring car, and I'm learning to fly my new Exceed BlueRay 450 PE CCPM Heli (great fun, and not as hard as some people make it out to be, although, it is a steep learning curve when you've never flown anything before.). I also plan on getting a Blitz when they are available. I worked at a Pulp Mill here but it shut down because of hte economy so I'm currently a stay at home dad. It's kind of nice to have a break but it's looking like the mill is not going to be reopening and our sawmill industry here is just about dead too so I don't know what I'm gonna do for work :(. No matter what I do I'm gonna take a major pay cut if I continue living here.
