If you want to know how I mount the battery and receiver in the body you will need:
1 lexan scraps from a body
2 small torch
3 marker
4 5 cell hump pack
That is all. mark and cut the lexan in a T so that it covers most of the battery. use the torch to heat the plastic away from the battery. when it melts put it on the battery to bend your angles. use a piece of ice to cool it quick. drill the holes to mount it and test fit it. when it is what you want paint and done.

OK truck is totally apart again and waiting on the last orders. Went ahead and used Insta-Cure CA glue on the carbon fiber edges and screw holes. THIS IS A MUST..... If you use insta-cure with the little add on micro glue tips it will take maybe 10 Min to fully do a set of TVP's and add on parts. Where a glove on the hand you are gluing with for runs. if you hold the glue tip straw at a 30Deg. angle it will cover the entire edge in one pass. I say tips are a must do to how thin the CA is.
Larsenracing
04-16-2009, 07:45 PM
This is a good tip but I am not sure it is a must. I have not done it to any of my trucks or any other parts have have never had a problem. I shouldn't say never as I did do the roll bar and shock towers just because they will run across the concrete when sliding upside down, LOL. It is a good thing to do though and is a rather easy process.

The truck is going to be awarded to the longjump winner. RCCA and Kershaw designs are doing the prize for the freestyle winner. The only other event that this truck might be a good fit for is the Steel cage match. Suggestions?

only thing i suggest is having a 'crash-cart' on hand caz the winner may have a heart-attack right there. at least he/she would check out with a smile on their face.
wish i could make it down to hang with all you guys but gotta take care of the little 1's. take some good video for me tho.

John im very interested in your linkage set up. How does it work? the mounts on the horn look stationary, or are they sliders? Hate to even bring it up caz your straight-out busy with the build & life, but some part #'s would be sweet.
also, the linkage rods look larger diameter than stock, are they?
JohnH
04-18-2009, 11:43 AM
rods are stock diameter. horns are dynamite. The linkage components are ofna. The brake rod is from the savage kit. my son in helping me tossed the packages. I will go though l8tr tonight and pull the numbers for you.
JohnH
04-19-2009, 01:06 PM
Had to change up a few things. First running OFNA Aluminum shoes. The trinity set up works and will go with the truck. It takes a truggy depth bell. It comes with a 13 tooth which isn't compatible with the motor or gear ratio unless your pulling stumps. The other thing was I was building this truck like someone who know about Savages would be able to work on. Bad idea do to if a Newb wins it. So I simplified the electronics routing. I drilled and tapped the GH front shock tower for 3mm screws. I then mounted the Rush battery box to it. No special brackets nothing. I then mounted the switch that Parker donated to the top of it. It is almost done. Body,Pipe and tires.....
Do to a binding issue with the front drive shaft I put a HPI CVD on the front. It is a little shorter than stock so it works perfect.

What made you change your mind about the placement of the battery pack?
JohnH
04-19-2009, 06:10 PM
It came down to a maintenance issue. With the battery and receiver in the truck like I did hops if something breaks or you need to change out something it is a nightmare to pull it apart. it looks cleaner but it isn't user friendly. This is a lot easier to work on.
